What an amazing evening! On the HOTTEST day of the year in the UK, Thursday July 25th 2019, George House Trust held their annual Drag Ball. The Manchester Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence were there!
The evening began early for the Sisters. The application of large quantities of industrial strength hair lacquer was needed. This ensured the Sister’s make-up didn’t slide off in the heat!
Kick off was at 7pm at The Ritz Ballroom. Sister Roly, Novice Sister Bootrice and Postulant Lavinda manned the main doors with the collection buckets. Loads of hard cash was collected as the crowds flocked in!
Inside, Sister BangBang with Joe King and Sister Judy with Novice Sister Mona sold the raffle tickets. Lots of paper money filled the buckets! Thank you to all those who were so generous. They also collected the Grand Auction cards. These were for the Silent Auction for Nana’s glorious sequined dress. It was very busy evening!
Fabulous entertainment was laid on by many of the Gay Village regulars. This included performances by The Family Gorgeous with Cheddar Gorgeous, Anna Phylactic and a wheel-chair bound Liquorice Black! Danny Beard, Misty Chance, John Hamilton and many, many more kept the fun going on stage thoughout the night.
And we all sweated up a ton and a half! Blimey, but it was HOT!
